In addition to the capacity building and implementation work, the SafeCare activities also focus on policy and advocacy, and information dissemination. In March 2011 SafeCare was launched in Cape Town, South Africa. During this two day event, healthcare policy makers of the public and the private sector gathered to discuss the importance of standards, patient safety and quality improvement in light of the challenges of resource restricted environments.
Since this launch, the SafeCare work has been presented at many conferences in for example Nigeria at the SQHN conference, the social franchising conference in Mombasa, the Quality Conference in Dar es Salaam, the South African Medical Association, but also at the Patient Safety Workshop organized by the WHO in Geneva and the Private Sector Technical Working Group in Washington DC. Since its inception, regular invitations were received from both public and private sector healthcare initiatives to collaborate on introduction and implementation of the SafeCare standards.
The second SafeCare conference took place on the 26th and 27th of September 2013. For more information about this, please visit our news section, where the program and gallery can be found.
